In an age where students spend a lot of time indoors, recess is a wonderful opportunity for children to experience the outdoors. We can help them make connections to nature by providing them time to serendipitously explore the environment. This is not just a fringe benefit; this is crucial to how people will think about the environment in the future. Without these crucial connections to nature, students will grow up without caring about nature. The outdoors to them will always be a place of gross bugs, dirt, bad weather and more.
